Dre Day B*tches

So first Kush (which Akon was a bad choice for) and now... I Need A Doctor; Detox is shaping out to be quite the mammoth of an album. Meh, what else would you expect from Dre? It's been 10-11 years now.... and still waiting. Regardless, this song is absolutely ridiculous. First, Eminem brings it just like he did on Recovery. No more garbage versing like he did on Encore and most of Relapse. No, there's no Relapse in this Recovery. Em comes out strong and hard with what might be one of the tightest verses of this year, and it's only February. This song is a definite warm welcome back to Dr. Dre. Two verses of Em bleeding his heart out to his mentor for everything he's done for him. beautiful. The beat is only how Dre knows how. Now I just wonder who ghost wrote Dre's verse :P.... hold on..... (looks at wikipedia)... meh... no specifics... whatever, dre was never one to claim he was the sickest MC out there. Anyways defintely check it out, this looks like it will be a record to look out for this year.

Also on a more PR level for Dovetails, yesterday Dovetails had a very successful gig at The Garrison. Now the bands that played with us last night are in competition with us to get the wildcard slot for Junofest. And you know what that means!!! WE NEED VOTES!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Explaination

So this is just a little blurb to explain to everyone why I am not playing with Dovetails currently. So far I have missed the gig at The Opera House and will also be missing gigs at The Garrison and The MOD Club. This personal hiatus will most likely last until the end of April. Currently, I am studying at the University of Waterloo. The studies are pretty much killing me. Most of the time I don't understand any of the algebraic proofs going on in class. Either way, as fate would have it, these gigs are just in the wrong place and the wrong time. I would kill to be able to play these shows, but sometimes you've got to be more realistic. You've got to step back and look at the big picture. Yes, yes, you've heard it right... I'm actually taking school seriously X_X. So that's the reason why I'm here and not there on stage. I would like nothing more than to join my bros up there on stage but alas as the great Prophet Jagger once said "you can't always get what you want". With that said, Mr. Daguanno is more than capable of filling the bass role up there on stage (lol, who listens to the bass anyways????). Radiohead's Lotus Flower Video

Well, I wasn't planning on writing anything here for awhile but I am compelled to write this down (and get away from these regression models I doing right now). Radiohead's video for Lotus Flower is now out and I gotta say it's pretty awesome. I mean on one hand, you gotta say it's just too much but then you can't help but love Thom Yorke. There are times when art just becomes too abstract and pretentious. I think Radiohead is on the borderline of that. Still I think it is always worth noting when a new Radiohead record comes out because it really is a direction that I would like to see music go towards. Not so much the depressed, fitter, happier, more productive standpoint, rather something new and complete while being wrapped in certainty that it is Radiohead for better or for worse. Welcome to Dovetails' Official Blog. This probably won't take full fledged flight for awhile but I thought it would be good to have this up and running so we have the option of using it. Here you will find all Dovetails related stuff but mostly I will be using this as my personal blog (probably album reviews mostly). Eric and Cappello are more than welcome to write here, and I will be encouraging them to drop in once in awhile. Anyways, I'm just glad I got this up and running.
